Welcome to the Back Pack Hack channel!
I created this channel so I could help those who wish to learn some of the tricks, tips and ideas (commonly called 'hacks' today) to help them enjoy their outdoor activities more.
If you're an avid outdoors type, and enjoy activities such as camping, hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing or even if you're a (SHTF) prepper, you're sure to find something here of interest to you. Not all videos will apply to everyone, but stick around and wander through some of the ideas I'm putting forth.
Take advantage of learning some of the ideas I've collected over the past 40-odd years. Remember, I created this channel for your benefit. So be sure to like and subscribe, share and comment!

Check Those Expiration Dates!
You may not know it, but that pepper spray you bought back in 2015, or the bear spray you got for that trip to Yosemite in '18.... is expired.

A question for my viewers, plus a video for those inquiring about doing product reviews. 1. My review will only be in the form of a video on my UA-cam channel. 2. The product must be one I feel comfortable with testing and reviewing. For example, I don't fish, so I won't test and review a fishing reel. 3. The product must be one that will be of interest to my viewers. I will not review a couch ...

Had expired bear spray so took it out and let the family practice usung it. Figured it was better they have used it at least once before they might actually need it.
Great reminder, thanks! Yup, the propellant dies. 😬
This advice has saved my tail more than once!
thank you ! i just checked mine, dang im glad i watched your video, i am going to share this,..
Thank you for this. Good to check and confirm. Always have a backup. Two is one and one is none. Been a while since we have seen ya, try post a little more.😊
Great video. I got a similar pack ..it's amazing , holds all my basic needs and does everything I ask of it. I love it so much I'm seriously thinking of buying A second pack..
Just found your video. Very nice. Thank you.
I need to fix some strap/webbing on my boat cover. What sewing machine would you recommend?
All the afflictions link not working..
Sorry, but they're not my links to maintain.
thanks
Amazing video as i pick up a revolver soon.
Great video
Thats a question alot of folks not ready to answer or prepare for. Alot of TOUGH decisions will have to be made sooner than later. Having a plan ahead of time for this very scenario will make things easier to deal with
Good one
can it all be downloaded at once or do you have a copy of it
Nice review. I turned 60 a few days ago. I'm making the switch from semi-auto for two primary reasons. Carrying with one loaded in the pipe scares the hell out of me. Yes I realize a revolver is not AD proof, but it is much better with the longer trigger pull. There are no slides to rack. Not a problem yet but old father time will catch up with you. These two reasons far outweigh capacity to me. Going old school.
Wouldn't it be just as good to carry the case thetnt come In .mainly just the hard plastic rectangle 50 \ 100 rounds . . Just vac seal the container if u want it water proof m feel like that's a bit easier and about the same . To each there own tho
j downloads wont download the files
What if the rip was in the top meshy part ? I am camping at Trowbridge Falls Thunder Bay, Ontario - A squirrel chewed a whole in the top meshy part to get in the tent and raid it for peanuts. We moved the peanuts to the sleep tent, cuz it had already raided our cook tent which has no floor so between the gaps of the tent wall and the ground- it came in through there without chewing any holes- so I didnt think it would go into the sleeper tent, but it did. They were the friendliest bold little critters- they would take the peanut from your hand- they would tease the dog by just staying out of reach on a tree trunk- chattering down at the dog. But, then go for a hike- up the river. Once you leave the campsite the squirrels and chipmunks raided the tent. When I returned I saw the red squirrel exit through a little opening that allows an extension cord for power into the tent. They chewed a hole to get in - and then saw that convenient little exit through the cord hole- and I guess the used that after that instead of scaling the tent to the top part where the mesh fabric is -- But they left that hole nonetheless. At least there were no "beans" left from all that rodent activity that went on in my absence. There was a ton of peanut shells left on the tent floor.
There are similar repair kits for the mesh.
@@BackPackHack I sewed it with unwaxxed dental floss- and now the tent is put away until next summer. Although it's still August, we have already had frost warnings begin last week for the nights. Do you think the dental floss will hold ? I could look for a mesh patch that you mentioned, and possibly put it over the red neck sew job i concocted. My last night at Trowbridge Falls- I had a wolverine raid my cook tent in the night. It dumped a container of nestle Quik chocolate powder and left it's footprints in the spilt powder. Then it went onto the large canvas type lawnchair by the firepit, and left its chocolate footprints on the chair- which I was able to photo and look up, and the paw prints were fairly large. I guess it stood up- propped itself up tall, on the chair with its forelegs maybe to snoop and get a better look- the wolverine didn't do as much damage to the campsite as the squirrels did.
Thank you for this wonderful gift of knowledge. The site still works, if the instructions given in the description is followed properly.
I carry dental floss as thread for field repairs. It's strong enough to hold together leather. Color matching gets done at home. EDC a Swiss army knife and you always have scissors. I have a leather thimble for heavy duty work. I always carry a scrap piece of synthetic webbing to use to patch holes and reinforce weak spots. My needles are kept in a tube scavenged from a dead ball point pen. Spare buttons and safety pins are stored in an old RX bottle.
8/32 threads? So.. 1/4"?
8/32 is not a fraction, it's 8-32 (which is not a math function). It means a No. 8 machine with 32 threads per inch.
I do the same. It's a great system.
A friend survived to a temperature -15°C in a camping night using similar device. But he just had a 2l soft drink botle. Worked also good. Camping in a 3° highest Mountain here in Brazil. Called "Pico da bandeira".
Out of curiosity, is this directory updated often? I downloaded it a few years ago but I'm curious if I should download it again to get the updates.
No updates. It's been static since it was uploaded.
What a thoughtful and interesting video. Well done Sir! 💯
Thank you very much for the video :)!
Thanks for you advice, i should of thought of that
I just got mine reading through the directions is there a way to set charge limits? I just ordered a couple of new flashlights and didn’t notice when I ordered that there wasn’t a usb charge port you have to have charger..then I watched a video on the specific battery and it says not to charge past 3.7 but the battery at full charge is over 4 I think..idk
Hopefully you were wearing a mask. Breathing rust is not good for you.
I did this 30 years ago in the army. And forgot how to do it. Thanks (73)

Really well made presentation!! Appreciated it a lot thank you my good sir.
I know that this video is older, but is there a way to get to this information today? Thank you!
Follow the link in the description.
🤭 you forgot that carrying the extra weight of food makes you tired. If you didn't have to carry all that extra weight you can go a longer distance. ( like a get home bag, you will have to carry bottled water, you can option out on how much your food weight. According to distance likely to travel) like accrost town or another county( 30 min drive can be a 2 day walk,)
Wow, that's a neat trick. Thank your for sharing it!
Thank you for this relevant and enlightening video.
If you get really hungry you wont worry about how something taste,Most of us don't know what real hunger is
Yes, I hear that all the time. Bit that's a total cop-out IMHO. Why store stuff you don't like when it's just as easy to store things you DO like?
Do you know what size binding post to use for 1.75 (90lb) cord
Great video. Good info. Many thanks.
One strand of inner paracord seems a bit too weak. Last thing you want is for the lanyard to break and then you're screwed. What about some microcord?
No-offense meant. But to be efficient and combat worthy you've gotta be un good cardiovascular health and fit. Especially when it comes to hands on fighting with a firearm. Train daily and stay in shape. My tip to you.
What's the most reliable automatic? How many shots are needed in the average situation? What is the cost differential between the two? Which one is easier to carry? Nice video. Thanks.
One thing. That's not a shrouded hammer, it's a fully enclosed hammer/internal hammer/"hammerless" revolver. The S&W 638 is an example of a revolver with a shrouded hammer. The hammer is shrouded to eliminate snag potential but you can cock it and fire the revolver single-action if you need to. The "hammerless" revolvers are double-action only.
thanks for this man
I own several Wiggy's sleeping bags of various weights, from a 70degree summer bag to a 60degree below 0 degree artic sleep system. they by far the best made bags, period, no exception. not only are they warm but can be washed many times to keep their loft and great feel. i can not say enough about Wiggy's quality and they are made here in the USA. I put my money where my mouth is.
The effort put into the cut leg scene is great, I really enjoyed this video. Can I ask what’s the best size for a bandana, are they all standard sized or is there a preferred size most people use?
Those big zippers were common in the older 70's Down Sleeping bags. Older Military field jackets had them as well. I just picked up a Hinter rectangular hooded model today in mint condition from my local SAVERS Thrift store for $8.50 with the Wiggy's compression sack.. It's a beast but It's a small with 31" width, I'm pretty wide in the shoulders. Been wanting one for years.
Having had the pleasure of camping with our video host, and given the opportunity to examine, first hand his E.D.C... I have to say that it is very encouraging to see a UA-camr walking the walk. Point of fact, these events occurred before I found out that he had a channel. I have to admit, I was rather tickled, upon returning home, and watching this video... to recognize each piece of this kit! Really lends a certain validity to his reviews, in my personal opinion. I later recognized the tent he was camping in, as well...
